After a boat mishap leaves our class stranded on an uninhabited island, students must collaboratively develop and govern a new society until rescue. Tasked with creating 10 laws reflecting core values such as unity, justice, and welfare.

A Three Hour Tour… Engaging Scenario Overview
Situation • Our class is taking a boat trip to the Caribbean to enjoy the beaches and sun. Halfway through the boat trip the ship hits a shallow reef and begins to sink. We quickly load our class onto a lifeboat and paddle to the nearest island. Everyone in our class has made it and as we begin to check out the island we realize it is uninhabited by people.
Challenge • With no way to signal for help and no sign of help on the way, our task is to develop a set of rules that will govern our new society until we can be rescued.
Roles • We decided that during our time here we will establish a direct democracy in which all of you will equally participate in the creation of our laws. You have been broken up into small groups in which you will create an initial draft of laws which will later be reviewed and revised by your group.
Product/Performance • With your team, create a list of ten laws that will help govern our island.
Audience • These laws should reflect what is important to your group
