  1. 8:38 Worship

  2. Luke 10:25-37 (The Message) 25 Just then a religion scholar stood up with a question to test Jesus. “Teacher, what do I need to do to get eternal life?” 26 He answered, “What’s written in God’s Law? How do you interpret it?”27 He said, “That you love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and muscle and intelligence—and that you love your neighbor as well as you do yourself.”

  3. 28“Good answer!” said Jesus. “Do it and you’ll live.” 29 Looking for a loophole, he asked, “And just how would you define ‘neighbor’?” 30-32 Jesus answered by telling a story. “There was once a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho. On the way he was attacked by robbers. They took his clothes, beat him up, and went off leaving him half-dead.

  4. Luckily, a priest was on his way down the same road, but when he saw him he angled across to the other side. Then a Levite religious man showed up; he also avoided the injured man.33-35 “A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man’s condition, his heart went out to him. He gave him first aid, disinfecting and bandaging his wounds. Then he lifted him onto his donkey, led him to an inn, and made him comfortable.

  5. In the morning he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take good care of him. If it costs any more, put it on my bill—I’ll pay you on my way back.’ 36 “What do you think? Which of the three became a neighbor to the man attacked by robbers?” 37 “The one who treated him kindly,” the religion scholar responded. Jesus said, “Go and do the same.”

  6. Do you think that the Good Samaritan would have had the ability to talk with the injured man?

  7. The process of effectively sharing our faith is based on building relationships.

  8. What does it require to share our faith? Willingness to take a risk

  9. Make a friend • Be a friend • Introduce your friend to Christ

  10. Love your neighbor as yourself… COMMANDMENT!! Not ‘optional choice’ Not ‘if I feel like it’ Not ‘idea’ COMMANDMENT!! From God to Moses (part of the Big Ten) From Jesus to us (one of the Super Big Two)

  11. What is YOUR faith story? If you don’t know your story, you can’t share it with somebody else.

  12. If someone were to come up to you and ask, “Why are you a Christian?” what would you say? If they asked, “Why should I become a Christian?” what would you tell them? Even if there were no promise of heaven, why would you want to be a Christian? (Or would you?)

  13. Make a friend • Be a friend • Introduce your friend to Christ

  14. We share our faith most effectively through the building of relationships!

  15. Action flows from our personal relationship and commitment to Christ.

  16. Acts 1:8 “But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

  17. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 New Living Translation (NLT) 18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

  18. The sharing of our faith is a natural thing. God extends His grace to us and we simply let people know about it.

  19. Galatians 5:22-23 Contemporary English Version (CEV) 22 God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, 23 gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways.

  20. Make a friend • Be a friend • Introduce your friend to Christ
