Corresponding Parts of Congruent Figures Geometry – Lesson 5-2
Big Idea of Lesson 5-2 • When figures are congruent, all corresponding parts – angles, segments, regions, and so on – are congruent. • Triangle BCO is congruent to ?
Theorems • Segment Congruence Theorem • Angle Congruence Theorem • Corresponding Parts in Congruent Figures Theorem (CPCF Theorem) – if two figures are congruent, then any pair of corresponding parts are congruent. Table of Justifications
Group Activity • Work in groups of 3, use one sheet of paper per person. • Compare birthdays to see who is the oldest in the group. • Oldest person – write a congruence statement relating 2 triangles. • 2nd Oldest – draw a pair of triangles that matches that congruence statement. • Youngest – list the six pairs of congruent parts. • Rotate roles, so each person does each part once. • All work will be handed in at the bell.
