DeWine Praises Ruling Striking Down Health Care Law: 1/31/2011; (COLUMBUS, Ohio) Senior U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson of the Northern District of Florida today ruled in favor of Ohio and 25 other states that challenged the constitutionality of the federal health care law. The judge found the law’s “individual insurance mandate” unconstitutional and declared the entire act void. “This ruling confirms the alarming overreach made by the federal government and sends a clear message that the federal government cannot regulate commerce by forcing citizens into the marketplace to buy a product,” Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said. “The Constitution makes clear that the federal government does not have unlimited powers. Juvenile Judge Vote Count Going Back To Secretary Of State - Federal Appeals Court Orders Votes With Poll Worker Errors To Be Counted; January 31, 2011; CINCINNATI Nearly three months after the election, the race for Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge is still up in the air. The Hamilton County Board of Elections split a Monday vote 2-2 on whether to appeal a federal appeals court decision to count about 150 excluded ballots in the race between Democrat Tracie Hunter and Republican John Williams. The current vote count, minus exclusions, has Williams as the winner. The ballots were excluded because they were cast at the wrong precincts, but a federal judge said they should be counted because they apparently were miscast because of poll worker errors. The Ohio Supreme Court and Secretary of State Jon Husted said the poll workers were right to exclude ballots cast at the wrong place. Now, the decision about an appeal will go back to Husted, who is expected to recommend the appeal. Yet it has paid Allen County only 0.04 percent to 0.12 percent recently."It's great we're making all this money for the state of Ohio. How about in return, giving us a better rate?" Link said. "If the state's making that much money off of our money, they can share some of the love.”Mandel was empathetic. He said he will increase returns to local governments. "I agree with you 100 percent," he said. "We should be taking less off the top and returning more to local governments.” Hancock County Treasurer J.
