  2. Bar/Bat Mitvah • Celebrate a young person’s into the adult Jewish Community. • They have became important traditions over the past 450 years. • Usually a young person recites a blessing over the Torah.

  3. Food • Jewish food combines many cultures in which Jews have travelled. • All food has be kosher. • Ex. Hummus, stuffed cabbage, blintzes • They contribute to bagels matzah balls gefilte fish.

  4. Marriage • The marriage ceremony is a simcha, celebrating the union two Jewish individuals. • It takes place under a chuppah(Canopy) • An actual marriage involves exchanging wedding rings. • They recite, “Behold thou art sanctified unto me by this ring according to the law of Moses and Israel.

  5. Theatre • From their Emancipation to World War II, Jews were very actice and sometimes even dominant in certain forms of European Theatre. • After the Holocaust many Jews continued that cultural form. • The strongest influence is theatre. • They made massive contribution in Austria, Britain, France, and Russia.

  6. Radio and Television • The first radio chains, the Radio Corporation of America and Columbia Broadcasting System were created by a Jewish American. • The Jewish innovators were also among the first producers of television. • The names are Davis Sarnoff and William S. Paley • “The Golden Age” was from the 1930’s to the 1950’s
