  2. What is the training all about? This training is part of FSSI’s (Foundation for a Sustainable Society)GREENING THE MFI PROJECT . THEME: “Strengthening MFIs Organizational Commitment on Environmental Protection thru EMS”

  3. OVERVIEW: The Greening the MFI training program covers a wide array of practical environmental management topics and productivity tolls which can help improve the environmental and financial performance of FSSI MFI clients and their respective micro and small enterprise clients. UNITED SUGARCANE PLANTERS OF DAVAO – SAVINGS AND CREDIT COOPERATIVE is one the FOCCUS coops that joined into this project. Such training program is divided into four modules as follow:

  4. Module 1: This module intends to stimulate the interest of MFIs to integrate environmental management concern in their operations. It provides orientation on the concept and methodology of “Greening the MFI Project”. BUILDING INTEREST ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT It also introduces the participants to various local and global environmental problems which rationalize the need for the “greening” project.

Module 2: This module consists of 2 parts such as basic orientation on EMS which will cover discussion on the importance of EMS in institutionalizing commitment to improve the organization’s environmental performance. Also covered in the training are presentation and discussion on the 21 elements of EMS, various standards in its implementation and drafting of environmental policy. The second part of this module covers general information in EMS, its tools and benefits. It also presents a framework for EMA and explains the 3 most practical tools and methods STRENGTHENING ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT ON ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT like the Material and Energy Flow Accounting (MEFA),Environmental Cost Accounting (ECA) and Environmental Investment Appraisal which was introduced to the participants applying a project case work approach where the participants were working on a specific business scnario.
