Status (see also following slides): Site: Dresden, Germany - with Special Focus Workshops at DESY in Hamburg. Expected number of submissions: ~1,800 Expected number of participants: ~2,000 Conference Location: Maritim International Congress Center Dresden (ICCD) Conference Hotel: Maritim Hotel Dresden (neighboring building of ICCD/connected) Contract Hotels: Artotel, IBIS, Hilton, Mercure, Steigenberger, Westin (various prices, 2 to 5 star) Local organizer/supporting Institution: Research Center Dresden Rossendorf (FZD) – MoA signed/very strong support. Conference Budget: Worked out, and approved by NPSS –waiting for message from IEEE HQ. Contract with Maritim: fully negotiated through a number of iterations, contract from our side is final version/approved by NPSS and IEEE, currently in Dresden for final approval. Involvement so far: all major German and many European institutions involved. Involvement, key people identification and involvement being expanded world-wide. Dresden: City of ~1/2 Million Elbe River Church of our Lady (rebuilt/re-opened in Oct 2006: 60,000 visitors) Semper Opera, Zwinger, Gruenes Gewolbe (renovated/re-opened in Sep 2006 by German Chancellor:… Instantly sold out for the coming 6 weeks) Numerous castles, landmarks and winery to visit. City: A landmark, tourist hot spot (in Germany/Europe! Known world-wide.) New Conference Center (opened in 2004) Brand New Conference Center Hotel (opened in May 2006) Physics: Research Center Dresden Rossendorf (FZD) with PET Center Local Organizer/strong support for Conference University of Dresden Very close to Poland, Czech Republic and other neighboring countries (with very active NSS/MIC communities/members there).
