  1. The Forgotten Captain Marvels

  2. Though modern day fans may know Carol Danvers as the Captain Marvel title holder, there were many who came before her, and most of them have been forgotten. Marvel Comics fans may pride themselves on knowing that Mar-Vell, a member of the Kree Imperial Militia who was sent to Earth to observe our development of space travel technology and ultimately came to Earth’s defense, was in fact the first to hold the Captain Marvel title, but how many know of the many others? We here at Gotitles decided to comb through our extensive collection of ebooks and audiobooks to bring you the brief story of another Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, who was the second person to carry the title. Created by writer Roger Stern and artist John Romita, Jr., Monica Rambeau first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16 (1982). Rambeau, a police lieutenant from New Orleans Louisiana, possessed the power to transform herself into any form of energy. Her powers changed over time, as did her affiliations, but at one time she was a member of the Avengers, even serving as their leader for a time, and of course, she served as Captain Marvel. Rambeau eventually ceded the name to the original Captain Marvel's son, after which she took the names Photon then Pulsar respectively. While the character was eventually relegated to some long forgotten B teams, she eventually found her way back to the Avengers, this time using the codename Spectrum.
