The Heart More than just a love muscle?
So what does a Cardiac Physiologist do? • ECG’s • Ambulatory monitoring • Exercise testing • Cardiac Ultrasounds (AKA Echocardiograms) • Catheter labs • Pacemakers • Electrophysiology
How can I do that? • The NHS in the West Midlands runs a regional training scheme based on the Clinical Physiology course run by University of Wolverhampton • This takes 4 years combined with on the job learning for the practical skills (you have to have the job to do the course) • To apply for this you’ll need a minimum of 2 A levels, at least one of which must be a science
Why should I do that? • A thoroughly challenging job • Lots of potential for progression • You get to save lives!
