Your Task- Part 1 • Create a floor plan as if you are floating on the ceiling looking down. • Use only basic shapes ( geometric and organic) to lay out your design. • FURNITURE SIZES MUST BE ACCURATE. Do not put a couch the length of a football field. ½ inch- 1 foot • Add accessories, such as plants, rugs, and appliances on the counters. • Original draft is drawn in pencil only. Use the copy machine when you research furniture styles to make multiple copies.
Oral presentation- Part 2 • You have an $5000 budget to furnish the room, including furniture, fabric, flooring, accessories, and wall coverings. Cite your references! • You will create a mood board with samples of the furniture, paint colors, fabrics, flooring, etc., to present to the class to sell your design. • Items on your mood board can be samples from home improvement stores, hand-made, actual samples, and/or magazine clippings. • You will receive two major assessment grades; one for the mood board and another for the presentation. • There is much preparing to complete this assignment- you must do the homework when it is assigned.
