IEEE WIE Mission • WIE is dedicated to • Recognizing women’s outstanding achievements in electrical and electronics engineering through IEEE Award nominations • Organizing receptions at major technical conferences to enhance networking and to promote membership in WIE • Promoting IEEE Member Grade advancement for women to the grades of Senior Member and Fellow • Advocating women in leadership roles in IEEE governance • Providing assistance with the formation of new WIE Affinity Groups and support of ongoing activities • Administering the IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program to mentor young women in junior and high schools

IEEE Women in Engineering Committee • Ten voting members, includes student member and representatives from EAB, RAB, and TAB • Boards may appoint non-voting liaisons (Awards, IEEE USA, Publication Services & Products, and Standards (TBA) • Coordinators from each Region • Coordinators from some Technical Societies

  4. Committee Responsibilities • Facilitate the development of programs and activities that promote the entry into and the retention of women in engineering • Enhance the career advancement of women in the profession • Promote IEEE membership and retention of IEEE women members

  5. WIE Membership Growth 200-2004 ~2.5% of IEEE members are WIE members (Data taken December of each year)

WIE Membership is International Over 150 Affinity Groups world-wide! 14 Affinity Groups in Canada - Carlton University (Student Branch) - Dalhousie University (Student Branch) - Hamilton - Kitchener-Waterloo - Montreal - North Saskatchewan - Ottawa Section - Red River College (Student Branch) - Toronto - University of Alberta (Student Branch) - University of British Columbia (Student Branch) - Winnipeg - University of Ottawa (Student Branch) - University of Toronto (Student Branch)
