SLR(Source Location Register) Application Server Sh interface Dx Interface Dx Interface HSS Cx Interface Cx Interface I-CSCF S-CSCF Mw Interface Mw Interface Mw Interface P-CSCF SIP Packets UA(User Agent) UA(User Agent)
An Example of UA(user agents) • Suppose a user wants to communicate • It sends a SIP register request to P-CSCF, it routes the request to another Proxy server I-CSCF • It is always located in the Home Domain of the user. I-CSCF consults the database of the user in HSS in order to choose the registrar which will process the request of the UA • After getting the information the I-CSCF then routes the request to the appropriate registrar (S-CSCF) that will serve the UA
Conti… • The S-CSCF also requires the Subscriber's profile to serve it, so it will again contact the HSS to gain that information • If a network contains more than one HSS the use of SLF(Subscription location Function) is done. • The I-CSCF and S-CSCF communicates with the SLR using the DxInterface of Diameter protocol
Conti.. • A header can be added in the SIP packet at the I-CSCF, this header contains the user information about the HSS address. • This prevents the S-CSCF to again access the HSS. The S-CSCF can use this information from the header and then discard the header
SPE EIB (96 Bytes/cycle) SPE BIC Memory SPU0 ° ° ° LS IIC SPE L1 PPE MFC I/O MIC MMU L2 RMT Cell Broadband Engine Architecture
PowerPC Processor Element • General-purpose Processing units that can access system management resources. • Primary function is management and allocation of tasks for the SPEs in a system.
Synergistic Processor Unit • Purpose is to enable applications that require a higher computational density and can effectively use the provided instruction set. • Each SPU has dedicated Local Storage(LS), dedicated Memory Flow Controller(MFC) associated with MMU and Resource Management Table(RMT).
