Israel in the desert • Days out of Egypt, they started to question God’s provision • Their appetite was for the comfort of what always was, not what could be • Their appetite was for their will to be done • The manna, the pigeons, and the complaining was just the physical evidence of the spiritual condition.

  4. Saul’s appetite • Interesting twist, the tribe of Benjamin • Saul was appointed by God, and would have been used effectively • Saul’s appetite was for people’s acceptance • The decision to hold the sacrifice was people motivated (1 Sam 13) • His decision to spare the Amalekite’s livestock was to please the people (1 Sam 15)

  8. Principles of Hunger • Even after the largest dinner, you will always be hungry later • You will constantly have to make decisions about what appetites you should feed, and which ones you should starve • The Bible is filled with examples of healthy appetites • Any appetites you should starve?
