  2. I was placed into an English as a Second Language class, and was absolutely shell-shocked. I couldn’t communicate with the other kids or the teachers because no one understood what I was saying. About When I was 14 years old, my family immigrated to the United States. I arrived in New York City and was fascinated by the fast pace and diversity. I was in total awe, but I was also totally overwhelmed... I didn’t speak a word of English, and school started just three days after my arrival!
