Having a good idea of the total cost, time to complete project, and whether you can do some or all of the work can keep nasty surprises to a minimum. Use the checklist below to help you in your project planning. 1. Determine your budget: The next step before planning a home renovation is your budget. Get an estimate on the project before starting. Determine what costs will actually work within your budget. Tell your contractor your budget goals and then see what adjustments you can make without sacrificing quality. 3. Determine the Schedule: Once you are done with your budget, then choose a desired start date. Plan out the times when you will need to be at or out of your home. Your contractor need you to be present for certain projects, or will it be unsafe for you to be preseon the property at certain times?
