Abstract • Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) • Problem defined • A self-organization based broadcast scheme
Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) • Ad hoc network • Mobile ad hoc network • Vehicular ad hoc network • Communication Types • Vehicle to vehicle • Vehicle to Infrastructure
VEHICLE TO VEHICLE Grass Divider Not to Scale
Vehicle TO Infrastructure Traffic Signal- Red Traffic Signal - Green up to 825 ft range Traffic Signal Radio Communication Traffic Signal Intersection Radio Mobile Radio
A traffic jam in intersection Traffic Signal- Red Traffic Signal - Green Traffic Signal Radio Communication Traffic Signal Intersection Radio Mobile Radio
Problem defined • Periodical broadcast some information on vehicle • Packet collision • Especial in traffic jam • A self-organization based broadcast scheme
Goal of this proposal • Measure V2I communication • Packet lose rate • Packet delivery rate • Delay time • Refer to difference velocity, density, etc. • Reduce packet collision • Not only apply on V2I but also suit on V2V
A self-organization based broadcast scheme • Basic idea • Adjust broadcast interval by itself • Packets received can be referred • Information delivery from RSU can be referred
Adjustment Function on a vehicle Packets Received (From RSU and OBU) Filter parameters: Position Velocity Direction Etc. Filter Function based and layered based may be designed after intersection testing. Adjustment Function Equation based Or Layered based Broadcasting
Steps of this proposal • Try To gather traffic information form websites. • Create broadcast packets base on the gather information. • Design a self-organization broadcast scheme • Compare with original and proposed scheme performance using simulator. They may include packet lose rate, success rate, delay time, etc.
