  1. PSTP 0100 CIP:The Integration of Critical Infrastructure Interdependency Analysis into Major Events Planning PSTP Summer Symposium June 16, 2009

  2. Project Objectives • Develop a methodology for evaluating critical infrastructure interdependencies in the planning of major events: • Step by step; and • Adaptable to various situations (geographic, political, social, etc.) • Create tools for evaluating interdependencies and preventing “domino effects”: • Visual, simple and easy to use • Will not require confidential information

  3. Partners • Centre risque & performance de l’École Polytechnique de Montréal and its industry and government partners; • Public Safety Canada, Critical Infrastructure Policy Division

  4. Expected Results • Integration of the concept of critical infrastructure interdependencies analysis in the decision making processes of the organizers of major events • Adaptation of internal management processes of critical infrastructure owners/operators to take into account challenges associated with interdependencies during major events • Long term impacts on the management of critical infrastructure in the community where the methodology will be validated: G8 leaders summit, June 25-27 2010 (Huntsville, ON)

  5. Tools to be developed • Analytic report: review of past major events • Analytic grid of output resources (allows each participant in the planning to characterize the resource(s) it will provide during the event) • Analytic grid of input resources (allows each participant in the planning to characterize the resource(s) it will require during the event) • Graphical simulation of interdependencies and domino effects • Intelligent system for information management and interdependency identification • Methodology guide
