  2. Our “World View” • Provides the framework by which we understand the world and life. • Defines how we look at the past, present, and future. • Defines what we think about how life began, life’s purpose, where things this headed.

Prominent World Views • Atheist/Evolutionist • Denies the existence of God • Life began accidentally • Death is the end • There is no future • Pantheist • God is everywhere and in everything • God is equated to the laws governing the universe • Death is just one phase of existence • Hopefully to merge into God • Theist • God is the Almighty Creator • Death is the end of life on earth • Spiritually we continue to live • Believes in a resurrection and judgment

  4. The Christian World View • We believe that God is eternal in His nature. From everlasting to everlasting. (Psa. 90:2) • He exists beyond and independently of the world which He created and sustains. (Gen. 1:1; Col. 1:15-17) • We believe that the world had a beginning. It was made at God’s command. (Gen. 1-2; Psa. 33:6-9) • The world will one day have an end. (2 Pet. 3:10-13) • Man is different from any other living creature. He is made in the image of God. (Gen. 1:26-27) • Man is of a dual nature, composed of flesh and spirit or body and soul (2 Cor. 4:16-18) • Being made in the image of God involves the spirit, because God is spirit (John 4:24; Acts 17:29; Heb. 12:9) • Man is accountable to God as his Creator and will have to give an account on that great day of how he has conducted his affairs on earth (2 Cor. 5:10)

God Has Guided History to Accomplish His Purpose • The creation • The call of Abraham • The deliverance of Israel from Egypt • The giving of the Law at Sinai • The incarnation of Jesus • The death of Jesus on the cross • The resurrection of Jesus • The establishment of the church at Pentecost God has guided history to accomplish His purposes and God will return in judgment.

  13. HOW SHOULD WE LIVE IN PREPARATION FOR THAT DAY? • Live in a way that is ever conscious of Jesus’ return • Live so that we are found in peace, spotless and blameless • Continue to be on guard against the devil and false teachers • Continue to grow and the grace and knowledge of the world

  14. There Is A Great Day Coming • Judgment is inescapable • The Bible will matter on that day • The verdict will be irreversible • The Lord warned us to watch and be ready for His return
