Last Year the Method for Future Publication of RADECS Proceedings and TNS Papers Was Likely to Change • RADECS Proceedings papers are available on IEEE Xplore • Selected RADECS papers are also published as IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science (TNS) journal papers and are also available on IEEE Xplore • Same paper can appear twice on IEEE Xplore • At the June 2008 IEEE NPSS AdCom meeting we were notified that the IEEE Technical Activities Board (TAB) was going to stop this practice in the future • This would have required changing the process for the publication of RADECS Proceedings and RADECS TNS papers on IEEE Xplore
TAB Policy Changed in 2009 • At the IEEE NPSS AdCom this month we were notified that it is alright for RADECS Proceedings and selected RADECS TNS papers to appear twice on IEEE Xplore • Contingent upon approval of the editor-in-chief • Paul Dressendorfer has given his approval • No changes to present publication process required!!!
Comments on Publication Process(Proceedings Papers) • Strongly urge all authors to submit a paper for the RADECS Proceedings • Conference record of all papers presented • Deadline either immediately before or after the conference • Papers submitted as .pdf files to designated conference person • Make a CD available to all attendees shortly after the conference • Is a hard copy necessary? • Publish .pdf files on IEEE Xplore • Permanent archival record of the RADECS Conference • Accessible to everyone in the radiation effects community • Very important for maintaining the success of RADECS in the future
Comments on Publication Process(TNS Papers) • Suggest to authors that they can also submit the same paper to the TNS • Same deadline as for Proceedings papers • Papers must be submitted on IEEE Manuscript Central by the author • Data Workshop (data intensive) and facility papers not candidates for publication • Papers must go through a rigorous review process • TNS publications in general are highly referenced • Good incentive for authors to present papers at RADECS
