Long, long ago there lived a man called FionnMac Cool. He had a son called Oísin.
One day he was out hunting when he saw the most beautiful girl called Niamh on a horse. She had long golden hair and a lovely blue dress.
“Who are you and where have you come from?” asked Fionn. “I am Niamh from Tír Na Nóg, my father is the King.”
Niamh wanted Oisin to go with her back to Tír Na Nógwhich was the land whereyou never grow old. Oisin decided he would go with Niamh.
Oisin started to miss his family friends even though he thought he’d only been gone for a few years. He really had been gone for 3 hundred years. He decided to go back.
“Take my white horse,” offered Niamh “and make sure you do not touch the ground or you’ll never be able to return again.” So Oisin set off.
When Oisin arrived back he saw some men trying to lift a rock. His family and friends weren’t to be seen anywhere.
He tried to help them but he fell off the horse. The horse ran off and Oisin was left lying on the ground. He suddenly turned into an old man. He asked someone had they seen Fionn Mac Cool and they said he died years ago.
