  1. Tested Ways to Secure Wi-Fi While Protecting Your Network Internet is ubiquitous. It’s driving our daily lives in more ways than we can imagine. The increasing usage is a boon and a bane for us. The rise in the number of Internet users has also made our home & office Internet networks vulnerable to malware attacks. If you have a wi-fi connection at home, you need to take measures to prevent data and security breach. Having the best wifi with parental control isn’t going to help here. What you need is more, and that’s why we are here. Let’s look at some of the ways to secure the wifi and protect your network. WPS WPS stands for WiFi protected setup, a feature that comes in most modern routers. It lets you connect the new devices with router easily. Thus, you can use WPA encryption easily on the router. However, this increases the security concerns. If your router has WPS feature, we recommend you to turn it off. Changing Admin Password Most people go with the default password that their router comes with. However, this password is easy to hack as every company has a standard password setting format. Set a difficult password so that even if someone has an access to your home wifi network, they will be unable to guess the password. WEP, WPA and WPA2 These are the common encryption standard wireless networks use. All the wifi networks have some kind of encryption feature to prevent hackers from accessing the information or connecting to your network. When connecting a new device to the router, you might find encryption a hassle, but it is worth protecting your network. You just need to enter the encryption once and the network will remember the device. Broadcast SSID Most users search for a network, select it, enter the password, and their wi-fi connection is established. To make the wifi secure, you can prevent it from broadcasting SSID and as a result the network will not be visible to people when they will scan the device. However, you can connect to the network by manually entering the name of the router. At Last Your Internet connection could be used for an illegal purpose or someone might access your personal files and pictures. That’s not all. If others have access to your Internet connection, it might slow down the speed. Pay attention to the wifi and mesh router security, so that you have a safe browsing experience.
