The Battle of Chancellorsville • Major battle for the Confederacy in the Civil War. • General Lee gave General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson the job of attacking the Union flank. • Which he succeeded in. • Unwilling to wait for intelligence from their own scouts, General Stonewall went out ahead after the fighting to get the information himself.
Woops • Despite his men trying to convince him otherwise, Stonewall went ahead with the plan, even going as far as to tell his men that were remaining behind to prepare for another attack on the enemy. • After he got the info he desired, he headed back to his men. However, when the Confederate sentries saw someone, coming from enemy line territory, where they had just been fighting, they opened fire. Stonewall was hit with three bullets, had his arm amputated and later died to infection and pneumonia.
