  2. Review • There are 5 Themes of Geography: P- R- I- M- E- Place and Location Region Interaction Movement Environment

  3. P- Place and Location • There are two types of location: Absolute Location- An exact location e.g. Brampton, Ontario N 43° W 79° Relative Location- In relation to another place e.g. Northwest of Toronto, Southern Ontario, Near Mississauga

  4. R- Region • There are 3 main types of regions: Human- How many people live there? e.g. rural, suburban, urban? Physical- What does the land look like? e.g. mountains, desert, forest Functional- What is the land used for? e.g. port, housing, industry

  5. I- Interaction • Humans interact with the environment • Humans can change the environment (pollution, hunting, destroying habitats, planting trees, introducing new species) • Interactions can change ecosystems, food chains, climate

  6. M- Movement • There are three main types of movement: Earth/Environment e.g. Earthquakes, storms, mudslides People/Objects e.g. evacuation, transportation, shipments Ideas e.g. new ideas, internet, learning, discussing observations

  7. E- Environment The environment is made up of 4 main components: • Atmosphere- air • Lithosphere- soil • Hydrosphere- water • Biosphere- living plants/animals
