Constructed Wetland to Remove Nitrate: Wetland Design Hydrology By: Cibin Raj
Introduction Objectives • Simulate inflow to the wetland • To determine monthly average depth of water in wetland • To find out the area extend of wetland (monthly) • Estimate residence time Taskscompleted • Decided to try simulating inflow to the wetland using SWAT • Collectedthe data-DEM (10 m),land use map (NLCD 2001), soil data (STATSGO), precipitation, temp • SWAT model for one wetland
Limitations of HEC-HMS • Event based model • Difficult to simulate tile drained condition • The watershed characteristics has to be provided as input • SWAT model • Can give a better simulation for tile drained areas • Constructed wetland can be modeled by considering as a reservoir
SWAT 47 sub-basins 1 reservoir
Tile Drain Parameters: DDRAIN,TDRAIN,GDRAIN [90 mm, 48 hrs,2 hrs]
