  2. What is cPanel? • Web-based Control Panel • Manage your domain by a web interface • It gives you the ability to manage: • E-mail, files, backup, FTP, scripts, etc. • Gives you access to site statistics See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

How to gain access to cPanel • Must have website access privileges • webmaster username/password • Enter your unit’s URL with a colon and the numbers 2082 in the browser address(e.g. http://a1300509.uscgaux.info:2082) • A sign-on screen will appear See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  4. How to gain access to cPanel • Sign-on Screen will appear • Enter in your Username and Password • Then click OK button and the cPanel Screen will appear See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  9. Main Icon Area • Icon access to the many cPanel features • Of interest to most CS Officer are:Mail, File Manager, Disk Space Usage and Web/FTP Stats See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  10. cPanel Mail • Click on the Mail icon • The MailManager MainMenu appear See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  12. cPanel Web Mail • Web Mail • You’ll see icons for NeoMail, horde and SquirrelMail • These are different versions of “Web Based” email and are normally not used because of the Web Server room these systems take up. See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  13. Mail Account Maintenance • This is where mail account are created and deleted • At the bottom of the menu is the link to add an account or back out of a menu See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  14. Mail Account Maintenance • Here is a list of email accounts created to serve this flotilla • It’s recommended that email names parallel job titles, such as fc, vfc, cs, etc • Later on we will setup mail forwarding using these email names. See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  15. Mail Auto-responder • Listing of various auto-responders • On this list is an auto-responder for an info@a1300509.uscgaux.info email address. Let see what that auto-response message says… See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  17. Mail Filtering • With email filtering, you can: • Filter incoming email which have specific words, addresses or • You can you automatic filtering such as SpamAssassin • See documentation for further info See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

Email Forwarding • Email forwarding is used to send “auxiliary job title” emails to a member’s personal email account • This prevents spammers from obtaining personal email addresses • When a new members takes an elected or staff position, the forwarding is easy to update and no website changes are necessary.   19. Email Mailing List • The email mailing list feature gives the user the ability to send an email, with one address, to a selected group within that unit. • The CS staff officer creates these mailing lists • An example could be: All-Staff, FL59 Ops Staff, etc. See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel

  20. Email Other Features • SpamAssassin • Sets up this feature if used. Used to control incoming spam. • BoxTrapper • Used to create a “white list” or “good-guy list” • If not on the “white list” forces emailer to reply to a verification email • Email Address Trace • Used to trace incoming emails by address headers See the CS Guide for further information about cPanel
