  1. Applications of LUCOBIT products: General information LUCOBIT agents meeting London / UK 17/07/09Dr. Sandro Kohn

  2. Table of contents • Overview of LUCOBIT products • Product range • Table of competition grades • Products and applications • Characteristics of different plastics processing technologies • Samples provided by LUCOBIT AG and asked from agents • Structure of presentations

  3. Flexible polymers • Waterproofing • Asphalt modification LUCOBIT‘s product portfolio and applications

  4. LUCOBIT FPO materials

  5. Lucofin 1400HN/MN and powderversions (500 µm and 300 µm) • Chemical Basis: Ethylene + Butyl Acrylate Comonomer (EBA) • Used in polyolefinc and other plastics formulations to provide -among other others- flexibility, excellent low temperature behaviour and high filler loading • Powder versions with particle size 300 µm (Lucofin 1400 MN) and 500 µm (Lucofin 1400 HN/MN)available for rotomoulding and special compounding • Main competitive materials: • Other EAE Ethylene Acrylate Esters (EBA, EEA, EMA) • Ethylene Vinyl acetate (EVA) • Plastomers based on m-VLDPE

  6. Lucofin 1470 Lucofin 1491, 1492, 1493, 1493-4 • Based on Ethylene Butyl Acrylate Comonomer, but more polar • Lucofin 1470: terpolymer with 7 % BA and 4 % AA • Lucofin 1491, 1492, 1493, 1493-4: MAH grafted with increasing MAh content (1 %, 2 %, 3 %) and increasing level of crosslinking (1493-4 more crosslinked than others) • Used • in polyolefinc and other plastics formulations to provide high filler loading • In multilayer structures/ to act as a tie layer between dissimilar materials • Main competitive materials: • Lucofin: • PRIMACOR® 2912 from Dow (EAA) • Lucofin 1491, 1492, 1493, 1493-4: • Lotader and Orevac grades from Arkema • Exxelor grades from Exxonmobil

  7. Lucofin 1400 SL Lucofin 1440 H • Based on Lucofin 1400 HN containing • Lucofin 1400 SL: • 0,2 % slip agent • Lucofin 1440 H: • 0,2 % slip agent • anti-blocking agent (>5%) • Used as a pure material or as part of a polyolefinic formulation (masterbatch) in foils, injection and blow moulded parts • Lucofin 1400 SL: to increase slip • Lucofin 1440 H: to increase slip and to avoid blocking

  8. Lucopren EP 1500H-90Lucopren EP 1500M-90 • Based on Lucofin PP/EPM • Available as • Low flowing version: Lucopren EP 1500H-90 • High flowing version: Lucopren EP 1500M-90 • Used as a pure material or as part of a polyolefinic formulation (masterbatch) to provide flexibility and softness in foils, sheets and moulded parts • Main competitive materials: • Borsoft SD233CF (Borealis)

  9. Lucopren EP 1505-55 • Based on Lucofin PP/EPDM partly crosslinked • Superior thermal stability and chemical resistance (acids, salts and especially oils, fats) due to crosslinked nature of the material • Used as a pure material or as part of a polyolefinic formulation to provide flexibility and softness in injection moulded and extruded parts

  10. Lucopren SE 1522 - 30S Lucopren SE 1522 - 40S • Based on TPE/SEPS • Very soft materials (Shore A: 30 and shore A 40) with high melt indexes (20 g / 10 min and 30 g / 10 min) • Used as a pure material in injection moulded parts to provide excellent softness • Main competitive materials: • Kraiburg grades based on SEPS
