  1. Learn About History of Bricklaying and Stone Masonry Bricklaying, as the term itself suggests, is the art of building a wall by laying bricks. Though the definition seems simple, bricklaying is, in fact, a highly skilled job. Did you know that the art of bricklaying and stone masonry is as old as six thousand years now? This is because Superior quality bricks in Chandigarh have always been a popular medium for constructing buildings. Early examples of brickwork are found right back through history as far as the Bronze Age. This is clearly an indication that bricklaying has been used by the early people as a part of civilizing their era. The oldest examples of fired-brick structures can be found in some of the ancient locations such as Jericho in West Bank, Catal Huyuk in Anatolia and Mehrgarh in Pakistan. These structures were probably built in the Stone Age and have survived till today. But it was actually the Egyptians who brought the standardized method of bricklaying in the construction of most of their structures, which include the Pyramids of Egypt. The tenth up to the seventeenth centuries marked as the time when Roman Empire had started to decline and this was the time when bricklaying started to decline too. The end of seventeenth century, however, witnessed great changes in the craft of bricklaying in the hands of English and Dutch. This was because of The Great Fire which broke in London’s Pudding Lane in 1660. This tragedy, which continued for 3 days, prompted the government to introduce the first rebuilding act; and from then on bricks and stone were required by law for use in the front and rear walls.

  2. Further back during the middle ages, brickwork has been in a constant use in a wide range of locations. The history of bricklaying stretched in the hands of Chinese people and they were known as the experts in the process of Bricklaying. The Great Wall of China is a living proof of this today. The process of ancient hand-making bricklaying lasted until the turn of eighteenth century. At the beginning of nineteenth century, machines were invented to help bricklayers in the process of masonry. And by the latter half of the century, mechanical methods had almost entirely replaced the ancient methods. As of the present days, there are many tools and techniques available which help the skilled masons in the process of creation and production of bricks in Chandigarh for a perfect construction. The art of craft bricklaying has not been destroyed; it has only been improved with the passage of time.
