Our Client • Adelaide Hunter Hoodless lived from 1858 to 1910 • Grew up in the rural community of St. George, ON • Married John Hoodless and moved to Hamilton, ON • Co-founded of the International Women’s Institute • Founded the Victorian Order of Nurses • Co-founded the YWCA • Established domestic sciences courses
Objectives • To raise awareness and increase the reputation of the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead in communities surrounding Brantford, Paris, St. George, & Hamilton • To increase the number of patrons visiting the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead by March 29th, 2013
Target Audience • Primary Audience • Families with young children under the age of 12 years • Media in the Brantford, Paris, St. George , Hamilton and surrounding areas • Secondary Audience • General public in the Brantford, Paris, St. George , Hamilton and surrounding areas • Grand Erie District School Board • Local businesses &community organizations

Easter Egg Hunt Details Free Easter Egg Hunt held on Friday, March 29th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead • Three Egg Hunts • Easter Passport • Trivia Station • Photo Booth • Museum Tours • Victorian Egg Roll • Sandbox Treasure Hunt • Cookie Decorating • Petting Zoo • Face Painting • Bunny Ear Craft Station • Prize Table The Event Included:

Why an Easter Egg Hunt? • Good Friday is a statutory holiday and Easter is an established North American holiday • Easter egg hunts are common events attended by families with young children • Positions the homestead as an organization that gives back to the community • Ability to host the event on-site
What We Did • Held a fundraising Birthday Bake Sale • Partnered with The Brant County Optimist Club • Pitched the event to local media • Created a Facebook page for the event • Posted flyers in St. George, Paris, Brantford, and Hamilton • Secured in-kind donations from local businesses
What Worked Well • Paired event with a holiday • Partnered with the Optimist Club • Hosted the event on-site • Expanded on traditional egg hunts • Free admission • Sign-in sheets • Recycled plastic eggs
What Would We Do Differently? • Secure more chocolate • Keep eggs with prize tickets separate • Put a sign at the Blue Lake Rd & Hwy 24 intersection
Overcoming Challenges • Lack of response from emails and phone calls for in-kind donations • Too many children, not enough chocolate • Difficulty contacting clients and sponsors
