  1. Beaverton High School PROPOSAL: Create the official Beaverton High School Alumni Association

  2. Beaverton High School • Beaverton HS Booster Club (BHSBC) will launch an official BHS Alumni Association (BHSAA), which will be managed by its own board and by-laws and ultimately becomes the ‘umbrella’ organization under which Booster Club will move. • BHSAA and BHSBC will establish an Endowment Fund that will serve as the primary fundraising vehicle for both the BHSAA and BHSBC. • BHSAA will create a Beaverton HS ‘Hall of Achievement’ that honors distinguished BHS alumni, teachers, administrators and serves as an annual gala fundraising event for the Endowment Fund.

  3. Beaverton High School Alumni Association Alumni Association Members: • All graduates of BHS • “Golden Grad” organization (existing group of alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago) • Retired BHS teachers (existing group that meets monthly) • Possible community memberships (local businesses, spouses or parents of alumni, etc.)

  4. Beaverton High School Alumni Association • The alumni association will: • Be governed by an executive board consisting of dedicated BHS alumni, including a representative from the Golden Grads and Booster Club • Determine if a membership fee will be charged, what the fee would cover and how it will be collected • Set up its own web site and manage communications with BHS alumni and BHS administration • Liaise with annual BHS class reunion committees and with the Booster Club • Seek opportunities to make connections with and involve BHS alumni in school-related events • Host an annual “Hall of Fame/Achievement” event • Participate in other opportunities to raise money for the proposed Beaverton Endowment Fund

  5. Next Steps: Alumni Association • Recruit small, energetic group of alumni to create board of directors to manage the association, establish by-laws • Create BHS alumni association web site, linked to the official BHS site and Booster Club site • Develop master list of alumni contact information • Implement communications plan to spread word about alumni association • Approach existing alumni groups such as the “Golden Grads” and retired BHS teachers to join forces • Begin reaching out to reunion committees planning their events for the summer of 2014 • Identify annual “signature” event, such as a Hall of Fame/Achievement induction and begin planning
