Timing of submission of 2nd/3rd nat. comms… • Shall make all efforts to submit their second and, where appropriate, third national communication, within four years of the initial disbursement of financial resources for the actual preparation of the national communication… • …may use an extension of up to one year for submission, after having informed the secretariat; • …least developed countries may submit their second national communication at their discretion;
Trends and implications… • Technical support: Increased demand for technical support in GHG inventories, vulnerability and adaptation assessments and mitigation assessments. • Funding for subsequent NCs: “…should apply for the financing of their subsequent national communications at any time between three to five years of the initial disbursement of financial resources for the actual preparation of their previous national communications…(decision 8/CP.11) • National needs… • Integration of NCs into national development planning process • Training of trainers
