  2. Why it started? • The United States wanted to capture Canada and Florida from Spain and Britain. Quick question, why did Tecumseh want Indian nations to unite? If Indian nations united they could keep settlers away. This is Tecumseh. This is Canada This is Florida.

  3. The War • The U.S tried to invade Canada but, it was unsuccessful. Quick question, what inspired Francis Scott Key to write “The Star Spangled Banner”? The sight of the American flag waving over the fort in the morning inspired him to write this poem. Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave

  4. The End • A peace treaty was signed in December 1814. Quick question, how did the law passed in 1818 change the U.S. flag? Flags had 13 stripes because, of the original 13 colonies.
