It’s Not Just About Looks Women don’t need looks to get through life By: Sydney Zgodny
Many people think women rely on their looks to be known. People also think that every morning there first priority is to put on make up and do their hair. But do you see policewomen and army soldiers all made up? I didn’t think so. Now think again do all or any women rely on looks?
Policewomen, coaches, marines and businesswomen don’t put on the works daily instead they actually work. Without these women we would not be safe, there would be no athletes and business would be a men’s job. They are extremely important and they care more about their job than how they look. Do you want to know how I know? The problem with the thought that women rely on looks is that in fact it doesn’t really apply to 95% of people. I have observed that most women now are doing things that they used to not be able to do. Meaning they are trying to break the glass celling and If women only cared about their looks there would be no reason for them to try and go further and keep up with men in the work place.
Have you heard of these women or seen them on TV yes they wear a lot of make up and nice clothes but they could be wearing pajamas and still be great politicians. I’m not saying this to get into politics with you but I am making a general fact. For instance Hillary Clinton ran for president that was very brave. When you saw her making speeches and campaigning were any of tactics to look pretty and smile for the camera? No! And did she use looks to get to the position where she could run for president? No! She went to college, law school in addition she worked her hardest. In fact, so did Christine Quinn and Jessica Lapin as well as all women in politics. So yes, they look pretty on camera but do they need is.
Most kids when there young watch shows about princesses and pop stars who are gorgeous thus as a result they want to be just that princesses and pop stars. But there’s more to girls than just wanting to be pretty and rich. Girls want to play sports and can be quite good at it. Also some girls don’t even like to play dress up. So don’t think all little girls want to be that rich pretty amazing girl when they are young. Also the girls who like to play dress up when there young might be because they want make them selves feel like a princess because they don’t feel pretty not because a princess is there idol.
The commercialized face of girls is a pretty ladylike perfect creature with lots of make up on and I know you have seen it on signs TV’s, magazines and its not one person its lots of girls. But I’m here to inform you that it’s really not how girls look every day and it shouldn’t be the face of us girls. Those signs make girls look so perfect and not strong but however in reality we are strong! There should be more adds with girls like Rosie the Riveter those kinds of girls should be the face of us.
Throughout this essay probably been thinking about how you have seen lots of women dressed up. Guess what, your completely right lots of women love to dress up. I mean its very fun and you feel pretty, but this has nothing to do with relying on looks. Dressing up is a once or twice a week or maybe month event not every day. As a matter of fact the only reason some women dress up is because they are going to a fancy event. When I was taking these picture it was hard for me to find a women all dressed up you might believe that it’s not true, but it is. Also some women don’t even like to put on a dress and heels ever! If you see a women on the street all dressed up don’t jump to conclusions and think that all she cares about is her looks maybe she is going to a fancy party or she is just trying to feel pretty.
In conclusion, I hope this photo essay taught you that most women don’t rely on looks or wear make up every single because that’s all they care about. I also hope that I showed you that not all women need looks to be known. But most of all I hope this essay taught you that WOMEN ARE STRONG NO MATTER WHAT THEY HAVE ON!
