The road leading to the park Not a long drive from the Rangaer Station to the park area. Blacktop road and a lot of trees.
View of the lake from the parking area This was my first view after parking. Ranger station to the left and the beach area to the right.
Bonham Lake and beach area Small beach area with playground and volleyball court. Pavilion area for picnics and group gatherings. Well maintained and very clean
Fishing Pier Small fishing pier, but in good shape. Bass and catfish are predominate. The water level, it being late August, was a bit low. In addition to fishing from the pier you can fish from the shore with good access almost all around the lake.
Lake Loop Road The main, and only, park road loops around the lake. Most of the trails cross it or begin from it. This is the view on the way to start the “Lake Loop Trail”.
The first Trail of the day Trailhead for the Lake Loop Trail. The signage shows that it is for bicycles but all of the trails are multi-use. All in all there are about 11 miles of marked and maintained trails. This one is about 3 miles around the lake.
Duck Blind on the trail I’m not sure whether this is active or not, presumably not, since there are no firearms allowed in the park and no hunting.
Views from the trail Speckled with sunlight, some nice lake views and a few interesting spider webs.
Lake Views from the trail From time to time the trails give you access to some nice lake views.
Lake view at the end of lake loop trail This shot shows the lake from one end of the Lake Loop Trail as it exits the woods.
A friend I met on the trail Other than a few birds and a lone hawk this was the only “wildlife” I saw.
Some additional Trails All the trails were very well marked and only a few had any slope to them.
Boaters and Bikers Motors are not allowed on the lake so kayaks are popular.
Other trail shots Some photos from a few of the different trails.
Just a picture perfect day It was a great day to be outside. Temperatures started in the low 70’s and got up to the mid 80’s. Lots of sunshine and a nice gentle north breeze.
