Construction Impacts • Lot Closures – (857) • Lot 9 Union/Burdick (183) – Utility work, Road Reconfiguration • Summer 2010 – Summer 2012 • Lot 18 West Village (188) – Phase II Housing • All but 50 spaces to be permanently lost as of June 2010 • Lot 22 – West Village (188) – West Village Garage • Entire lot to be closed June 2010, replaced by 1,500 space garage August 2011 • Lot 20 – Towson Center (298) – Arena • 50%+ of lot permanently lost January 2011 • Road Impacts • New entry at Towsontown Boulevard – will require temporary road re-alignment toward garage entrance • Newell Ave – Lot 6a entrance may be relocated to University Ave
Overview of Policy Changes • Modify shuttle service • Expanded Faculty/Staff Parking in Towsontown & Union Garage • Use of county garages (400) to handle demand • Auburn Drive to be converted to one way (north to south) to allow for parking (150) on weekdays • Towson Center lots to be used for displaced residents from West Village
Shuttle Changes • Eliminating Penn route due to lack of ridership • Adjusting Cockeysville route to hourly service • New routes • County garages • Rodgers Forge apartments – off Stevenson • Additional service through new routes to: • University Village • Towson Center & other campus stops • Modifying Gold & Safe Ride Weekday Service Times • Ending Gold Route at 10 pm • Starting Safe Ride Point to Point at 10 pm • Considering modifications to weekend Gold route: • Eliminate loop service and replace with: • Tiger Taxi service – point to point with limited off campus service, 4 pm to 9 pm • Safe Ride On Campus Point to Point – 9 pm to 6 am

Enforcement • Necessary service to help ensure a safe environment and availability of parking for permit holders • Aggressive enforcement for violations • Changes • Non residents overnight parking will be restricted to the Towson Center • Violators who accumulate 5 or more tickets (paid or not) will be subject to towing & other sanctions
Faculty/Staff Changes • Additional sections of Towsontown garage will be converted to Faculty/Staff parking • All of the new section on level 2 • ½ to ¾ of new section of level 3 • 11a outside of the Union Garage will remain as Faculty/Staff Parking • Excess spaces that have been available in prior years will no longer be available. • i.e. Do not plan on driving to an event at the Union or CLA, etc. during peak times.
Visitor & Event Parking • Paid visitor parking will be at a premium • Adding Department Code Only spaces in visitor areas. • Assist your visitors/potential students/etc., provide them with a code • Limited spaces (100 for campus) will be available during peak times for off campus event guests parking • Peak Times - Monday – Thursday, 6 am to 5 pm • Lot 24 at Administration building to be first area for event parking • Towson Center to be back up for days with multiple events or larger groups • If group is too large or there are other events previously scheduled, parking for your event may not be available. • Off campus parking at County garages can be arranged for $5/vehicle.
Resident Student Changes • No freshman (<30 credits) resident parking will be available on campus. • If desired, students can contract directly with the county for a space. • 30 permit spaces will be available in West Village. • Assignment of spaces to be determined by URG • Millennium Hall Residents without an MH permit • No access to lot 18 spaces • Eligible residents will be assigned to Towson Center lot 14 • Eligible residents who could not get a permit for their preferred lot will be assigned to Towson Center lot 14. • Residents assigned to Towson Center will be required to relocate their vehicles on Friday evenings prior to major events (ex. football)
Commuter Student Changes • Freshman (<30 credits) & Non Degree Students will be assigned to one of 2 county garages • Chesapeake Garage – next to library • Tolbert Garage – Ware Ave • In unlikely event assigned garage is full, garage staff will redirect parkers to another county garage
County Garage Information TOLBERT • 2 Garages – 400 Spaces Total • Chesapeake Garage (next to library) first to be sold • Tolbert Garage – Ware Ave • Weekday parking only • No overnight parking • Shuttle Service • 7:30 am – 10:00 pm • Pull ticket upon entry • Show permit upon exit • County Garage Permits valid in campus commuter areas after 3 pm on campus CHESAPEAKE Towson University
Commuter Student Changes • Auburn Drive • Will be converted to one way (north to south) • Angled parking will be available on the inner loop - weekdays until 10 pm. • No weekend or overnight parking • Watch Posted Signs & Markings • Vehicle Size Restrictions – no extended vehicles • Resident permit restrictions • Major Event Restrictions
Parking Inventory Status Spaces Lost (Construction) = 850 Daily Empty - 350 Net Loss of Used Spaces = 500 Spaces Added County Garages = 400 Freshman Resident Restriction = 150 Auburn Drive = 150 Lot 14 Reconfiguration = 50 Total Added = 750 Surplus = 250 (Note: Does not include spaces gained from increased use of Shuttles and other TDM programs.)
