  4. Astronomer: Person who studies stars and constellations in the sky!

  5. Blue stars (flames) burn the hottest and have a high surface temperature.

  6. Red stars (flames) burn the coolest.

  7. Question: Which star is hotter, Betelgeuse or Rigel? Betelgeuse Rigel

  8. In a Supernova Explosion a star collapses and throws out layers in space. After a Supernova

  9. Black Holes: BLACK HOLES can be produced after the death of star. Its so massive that light can not escape!

  10. Nebulas are giant clouds of gas and dust. Here stars are born And can also die.

  11. Life Cycle of a STAR:

  12. Absorption Spectrum: Astronomers use this to determine both the temperature and composition of stars.

  15. A spiral galaxy has a bulge in the center and spiral arms coming out of it.

  17. QUESTION: What Galaxy do we live in? We live in the milky way, a spiral galaxy!

  19. An irregular galaxy has a scattered look to it with no distinct pattern.

  22. An elliptical galaxy has a very bright center and very little dust or gas around it.

  24. UNIVERSE (rising bread dough example): The universe is like the rising bread dough, its expanding. The raisins are galaxies. As the universe expands the galaxies move far apart.

  26. COMET • The ion tail contains electrically charged particles of gas.

  27. ASTEROIDS

  28. ASTEROID: A ROCKY SMALL OBJECT THAT ORBITS THE SUN.

  29. ASTEROID BELT: A BAND BETWEEN THE ORBITS OF MARS AND JUPITER.
