  1. Financial Literacy: First Day of Class Welcome to Mr. Crabtree’s class! We will learn money skills every adult wishes they had at your age.

  2. Welcome! • You will wish every class is this practical. • You all have the potential to perform well. • I am honored to teach this class and will enjoy teaching it to all of you.

  3. Introductions: Mr. Crabtree Enjoy Problem Solving (Math) Love Teaching Math (Yes, geeky) Married to Joanna Three Kids: Alayna Gwendolyn Lydia

  4. Arrival To Class • Enter main door • Gather supplies • pencil • workbook • Must have pencil or pen to be prepared • Sit in your seat • Begin Opener

  5. You will find: Plan of the Day (POD) Opener Resources Translation What we will be doing What to begin when you arrive to class What you need to be prepared On The Board

  6. Whole Classroom Instructions • See staff’s hand raised and hear “I need your attending skills.” • Stop what you are doing • Raise your hand • Give eye contact to staff • Quietly wait for instruction • Ask questions to clarify and validate

  7. Making Requests Asking a QuestionPermission for Water • Raise hand • Wait for teacher response • Ask using what you know Use in Room

  8. Making Requests Continued… • Be sure to use the restroom between classes. • Be sure to request administrators during breakfast. • See requesting “Voluntary Focus Room Procedure”

  9. Student Request for Focus Room • Student shall respectfully request a focus room from staff person, at appropriate time and place. • Explain purpose in hallway conference. • Wait patiently and quietly for staff to call Focus Room coordinator for availability. • When directed by staff, report directly to Focus Room with signed points. • When unavailable, student and staff will have hallway conference to problem solve next steps.

  10. Video Lessons • Give attending skills. • Write in your notebook. (fill in the blanks) • Length is between 8 to 15 minutes • Remain seated • Use “Making Request” procedure

  11. Side Partner Breakout Problem solving is much more successfully done together. • Mr. Crabtree will say, “get with your side partner.” • Move your desk • Determine roles • Listen for the task from Mr. Crabtree

  12. Group Learning – Tribal Rules • Introduce self • Desk Touch • Decide roles • Use attending skills • Wah space

  13. Circle-up • Move desks into a circle facing in. • Move unused desks to the walls of the room • Facilitator • Prompt • Listening Skills

  14. Test Taking • Advanced Notice • Study Guides • Pencil and Calculator permitted • Individual work “Show what you know” • No Surprises • Essential to grade 40% of total

  15. Completed Work • Please, please, please don’t hand it to me! • Write your name and date at top. • Review to ensure completion. • Put in the completed work tray on my desk.

  16. Classroom Rules • 1) Be prompt to class. • 2) Use respectful words, tone and body language. • 3) Participate to your full capacity.

  17. Dismissal from Class • Mr. Crabtree will get the class’ attention. Wrap-up tasks will be given at this time. • Complete your wrap-up tasks • Sit at your desk and wait to review PP sheet. • Once Mr. Crabtree records points, you will add to your checkbook • Wait for Mrs. Rion to dismiss by earned points.
