  4. 30 Years Ago...vs Now • Size and capacity • mainframe to laptop ( + client/server & supercomputer) • User Interface • punched tape/cards to GUI + virtual • Functionality • record keeper & calculator to business driver • Diversity • academic, commerce, home, control, robotics • Impact and Attitudes • low impact to global • Career progression • job for life + limited roles/skills to fluid/flexible market + multiplicity of roles/skills
