The Market Access Database is a free, interactive, easy to use service, primarily for exporters, providing: • Information about Market Access conditions in non-EU countries • Systematic way for the European Commission to follow up complaints from business • Means of ensuring that our trading partners are abiding by their international commitments • Input for defining the EU's trade policy objectives on further trade liberalisation in the framework of : - the World Trade Organisation (e.g. DDA) - new free trade agreements between the EU and preferential partners (e.g. potential FTA with India)

MADB Complaints Register • Simple and efficient system to register trade barriers quickly • Facilitates the universal recording of substantially all known barriers in one place • Standardised on-line input forms to ensure that all relevant data is obtained at first contact • Allows EU business to follow progress of complaint and to be informed of designated case handler • Complaint Register is integral part of MADB and publicly accessible

What is the Complaint Register and what are its objectives? • Following demands from business during consultation process, the MAP Communication proposed a “new streamlined system for registering complaints” • Objectives in developing the system have been: • Simple system to ensure quick registration of trade barriers - Universal recording of substantially all barriers in one place • Standardised on-line input forms • Greater transparency on complaint follow up for EU business - Integral part of MADB and publicly accessible
