A B C Step 1: Barcode, Date Sampled, Collected At A: Affix Barcodes provided(yellow sticker) C: Collected At= Centre where sample is being taken and type of centre B: Date Sample= Date that sample is taken from the prisoner
Three possible results to expect… • Valid Urine- Negative to all substances • Adulterated Sample- the urine does not reach the required temp. and/or the Adulteration strip indicates adulteration • Valid urine – positive to known drug/s
Step 2: Drugs to be returned with a Confirmation result After the prisoner has provided his/her sample, it is important to wait until the substance strips have provided a result. If the prisoner is positive for 1-3 individual substances, tick the boxes that coincide with the cup result.
Amphetamines (AMP), Cannabis (THC), and Buprenorphine (BUP) Step 2: Example For example, the prisoner returns a positive result for; NB: Creatinine is a mandatory test
Step 3: Standard Immunoassay Screen In the instance that the cup is faulty (eg, cup shows nil temperature, adulteration strip shows nil result or the substance strips show nil result), sample adulteration is suspected OR the prisoner has tested positive for ALL substances, a standard immunoassay screen should be requested.
Step 3: Example In the instance that the prisoner is positive to all substances, including Buprenorphine (BUP)…the form should be completed as shown…
