MY DIGITAL STORY By: Katherine Asencio
WHERE DO I UPLOAD PHOTOS? As an active internet user I used to upload photos of myself on my social websites but not so much now. I believe that even though I am not posting explicit photos of me I am exposing myself to critics and negative comments and possible threats. I consider myself a responsible person when using the internet. I currently do not upload any photos. However I still upload them to my personal photo documents.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I SPEND ON THE INTERNET? I usually spend a lot of time surfing the internet. I must admit is addictive and it does consume most of my time . I can say I am one of those people who gets lazy after spending too much time on the internet. So I use the computer 24-7 or at least is on. I remember I was so depressed that all I did was use the computer and not get up. I noticed how I trembled so much when I was on the computer because brain was just in another world.
Positive and negative results of internet: As we all know the internet can be a wonderful source of information that can help us find information and understand. I usually search for topics or definitions that I don’t understand. The internet can be also positive or helpful because, it allows us to check out prices before hand and determine what is a better deal for us. On the other hand, the internet includes websites and a lot of information that may influence users to act or do certain things. The internet can be negative because it can be a place for cyber-bullying and some teenagers formulate suicidal thoughts looking for comfort.
HOW TO CONTROL WHAT YOU POST? I think its very important to control what we post everyday on any social website. I have learned that when you have a social website it records everything you have uploaded one way or the other when you search on Google. This is known as a “Digital Foot print” this means that it tracks your information and possibly everyone can view it. Just be careful of the type of information you choose to post and make it public because you should think about future jobs and they might snoop around you.
Digital media and the world: Today I can connect with my family from Michigan and some friends I know from when I was in middle school. I enjoy meeting new people because it gives me a chance to getting outside the real world for a bit.
What would society be without internet? The world would be boring and just harder to connect because some people communicate easier by internet or just are more comfortable with that type of communication. People wouldn’t be so close minded or cyber bullying would absolutely decrease.
