3. Preamble The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria ,established in 1964, is an Aviation Training Institution charged primarily with the responsibility of training Pilots, Air Traffic Controllers, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Aeronautical Telecommunications Engineers and several other aviation specialists for the Nigerian and International Aviation Industry.

4. LOCATION • The college is situated at the Zaria Aerodrome, 75km from Kaduna city in Kaduna State which is in the North Central part of Nigeria. Zaria is a university town which also accommodate several educational Institutions.

5. OBJECTIVES • To conduct civil aviation training for use in flight training or airport operations • To train approved persons in installation, maintenance and operation of technical equipment, the use of which is calculated or likely to increase the margin of operational safety of civil aircraft services • To train approved personnel on equipment and necessary facilities for technical research or normal use

8. Training Activities/ Facilities Training activities in the College are carried out in Five Schools. These are: • Flying School • Air Traffic Services/Communications School • Aircraft Maintenance Engineering School • Aeronautical Telecommunications Engineering School • Aviation Management School

10. Flying School Courses The flying school conducts nine courses, among which are: • Standard Pilot (PPL, CPL ME/IR, MPL); • Cabin Crew • Flight dispatcher • Dangerous Goods; • International Flight Planning; • Environmental Orientation Course; etc

24. Aeronautical Telecommunications Engineering School -Courses The ATE School conducts twenty-three courses among which are • Air traffic Safety Electronics Personnel License; • Aeronautical Telecommunication Engineering Diploma; • Post Graduate Diploma in Safety Electronics;

29. AVIATION MANAGEMENT SCHOOL • Dedicated to maximizing performance of individuals and organizations through management, leadership training and customized solutions.

30. AVIATION MANAGEMENT SCHOOL -Courses The AMS School conducts seventeen courses among which are • Post Graduate Diploma in Aviation Management; • Aviation Planning, Operations and Management(Basic, Advance and Executive) • Terminal Operations and Management, etc.

31. GRADUATE DIRECTORY – JANUARY 1967 – DEC, 2012 The college has trained eleven thousand, six hundred and sixteen (11,6160) aviation professionals from inception to date. The analysis is as follows: • Flying School - 2,743 • ATS/Comms - 4,446 • ATE School 1,381 • AME School - 1,134 • AMS - 1,912 31

32. FOREIGN STUDENTS • The College has trained eight –hundred and fifty (850) foreign students to date. They are from Ghana, Niger, Ethiopia, Lebanon, etc.

33. INSTRUCTORS • There are eighty instructors in all the five schools. • The Instructors are professionally and academically qualified with PhD, Masters, Bachelor degrees and Post graduate Diploma in various aviation fields. • The college also engages the services of experienced external facilitators in some of its programmes. 33

34. TRAINAIR PLUS Activities • The College is currently an Associate Member of the Train Air plus. • Two course development teams are currently in place. One CD team developed an STP for Tampico TB 9 Aircraft Line Inspections.

35. TRAINAIR PLUS Activities • The other CD team developed an STP for Alcatel DVOR 432 maintenance. Both STPs already in the TRAINAIR sharing pool. • Currently Airport Emergency Response course is being developed. • Course developers have been trained under the new methodology.

36. OUR GOALS • Accreditation of our courses: • Bachelor degree; • Post Graduate Diploma Programs • Partnership/Collaboration in the award of • Masters degree. • Affiliation with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona, United States of America.

37. OUR GOALS • Development of our aeronautical engineering/technology courses; • INSTRUCTOR/LECTURER EXCHANGE PROGRAM; • Adjunct Lecturers in specialized Aviation fields.
