Preparing for the Virtual World • Projection:By 2019, over half of all courses will be conducted through e-learning processes • As educators, we are challenged to prepare students to learn through this delivery method. E-learning takes a great deal of commitment, discipline - and an occasional nudge from a dedicated parent and Distance Learning Advisor! (http://www.ncvps.org/parentstudent/whatis/)
Preparing for the Virtual World • To be a successful student in the Virtual World, Students need: • To make the commitment • Be self motivated • Be efficient at managing their own time (http://www.ncvps.org/parentstudent/whatis/)
What Does An E-Learning Class Look Like? • Both NCVPS and Learn and Earn Online use the same high end gaming graphics and techniques as in popular video games. This helps engage students. • Instructors and designers continue to work each semester on revising course content to meet the needs of 21st Century Learners. • (http://www.ncvps.org/parentstudent/virtualcourse)
NCVPS • North Carolina Virtual Public School is an e-learning program which provides expanded high school course offerings including SAT preparation, AP courses, and credit recovery. • Courses include foreign languages (French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Latin) • Other electives include Medieval Studies, Success 101, and many AP courses
