Use technology to your advantage • I suggest using Google Sheets • It allows multiple people to work at once • You're also able to download the app on your phone • Easy access for when you don’t have a computer available • Microsoft Excel also works • Doesn’t have the same advantages as using Google Sheets • Sharing the spreadsheet is more difficult
The Prologue • Before you start making your prop plot • Read through your script • Highlight any and all possible props • Anything the actors interact with • Possible set dressing
Act 1 Scene 1 • Login to your google account • If you don’t have one, I suggest making one • Open google Sheets • Open a blank spreadsheet
Act 1 scene 2 Title your spreadsheet Share with your team and teacher Make sure your settings are set right
Act 1 scene 3 Add an Act 1 title; merge and center cells Add your scenes in separate columns Add a build (B), borrow (Br), buy (By), have (H) column Leave a blank column in between Add a prop column
Act 1 scene 4 Add check boxes in the empty column you left (click on insert and then checkbox) Add all the props used in Act 1 Add an X in every scene where the prop appears
Act 1 scene 5 Have everyone pick a color and divide up the props 1 Color the checkboxes the same way (use the paint format button to quickly do so) Fill in your build, borrow, buy, have list Add a key so everyone remembers what color they are
Act 1 scene 6 Repeat steps Add another sheet and label them Act 1 and Act 2
Add any props that come up along the way or at rehearsals Act 1 scene 7 Add another sheet
Act 2 scene 1 When going to print, add boarders around all sides of the selected cells Once you added the boarders hit print
After changing your settings hit next Act 2 scene 2 Change setting to workbook all sheets landscape fit to page
Act 2 scene 3 After hitting next it will transfer the spreadsheet into a pdf
Act 2 scene 4 Open the pdf and check your settings once more Print your spreadsheets
I usually download the spreadsheets as an excel document and then print. Any option works though Act 2 scene 5 There are other options to download your spreadsheets
