About Us Our Mission FisherCARES aims to unite undergraduate business students through service and encourage students to volunteer. By giving back to the community, FisherCARES seeks to make a difference in Columbus and throughout the world.
Membership • Pre-business or Business Student • Attend 4 meetings over the year • At least one of these must be a service/social meeting! • Participate in 4 volunteering events over the year Only members are eligible to vote at elections!
Fall Semester Schedule • 9/30 – regular meeting • 10/7 – Service/Social meeting • 10/21 – regular meeting • 11/18 – regular meeting Meetings will be held Mondays at 8PM in SB 105. Pizza will be available at all regular meetings.
Drivers • Have a car? Willing to help out on short notice? Sign up on the Drivers List! • Gas Reimbursement • $0.40 per mile • Email Kendra Gallagher (.575) for more info Sign up for the Drivers List will be down at the front after the meeting

Current Volunteering Activities • Run for Global Awareness • 5k supporting the efforts of Pure Water Access Project, MEDLIFE, and The Supply around the world • Saturday, Oct 12, 7:30-11 AM • Race Setup • Food Setup and Distribution • Cheering and Directing • Cleanup • Free food after the event! • Email pho.6@osu.edu
A Note on Accountability • In the case of cancellation, contact site leaders 24 hours prior to volunteering event • No Call No Shows will be penalized with removal of volunteering privileges
Volunteer opportunities • 12 regular sites, occasional one-time service events • Each site has a different volunteering schedule; some go weekly, others bi-weekly, etc. • 3 Main categories: Education, Animal Care, and Feeding the Hungry • BUT we are always looking for more ways to give back, so if you have an idea, feel free to reach out • The sites will all be active by our next meeting September 30
Education LifeTown • What: Educate kids with special needs • Role-play to simulate real world experience (be a police officer, a doctor, etc. • Where:6220 E. Dublin Granville Rd, New Albany, Ohio 43054 • When: Weekly • If interested, please contact Brandon Biggs at biggs.69@osu.edu
Education Windsor Academy • What:Volunteers will tutor elementary school children through various educational activities that the teacher has prepared. This may include reading, word-games, basic math games, etc. This is a great way for volunteers to grow as leaders while also helping children to learn and grow. • When:Weekly • Where: 2 Miles from Campus • If interested please contact Michael Young at young.1682@osu.edu
Education Broad Street Afterschool • What: One on one tutoring with elementary and high school aged kids • Help with homework of all different subjects • Where: 15 minutes away in downtown Columbus • When: TBA Tutoring experience NOT needed! • If interested, contact Craig Barrus at barrus.5@osu.edu
Animal Care Colony Cats • What: Help around the shelter and play with the cats • Where: Dublin, OH • When: TBA • If interested, please contact Steven Fischer at fischer.586@osu.edu
Animal Care Franklin County Dog Shelter • What: Play with dogs in an outside enclosure. Run around, have fun petting and playing with dogs. • Where: 4340 Tamarack Blvd. Columbus, OH • When: TBA • If interested, please contact Allison Brown at brown.4610
Animal Care Horse Rescue • What: Help around the farm doing odd jobs, such as cleaning stables and moving food. • When: Monthly • Where: West Wind Stables, Bellefontaine, OH **Drivers needed! • If interested, please contact Meghan Pavithran at pavithran.2@osu.edu
Feeding the Hungry Faith Mission • What: Serve dinner to the men in need at Faith • Where: Shelter on 8th Ave. • When: The first Wednesday of each month • Next Trip: Wednesday, October 2nd • Leave behind Gerlach Hall at 5:30, return to campus by 7:00 • If interested, contact Adam Hershberger at hershberger.81@osu.edu • First 5 volunteers to email will be able to go
Feeding the Hungry Mid-Ohio Food Bank • What:Sort and pack donated food products to be distributed around 20 Ohio counties • When:3 times a semester • Where: Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Grove City • If interested, please contact Sarah Witsken at witsken.2@osu.edu
Feeding the Hungry Unverferth House • What: Unverferth House is a home for families who have family members in The Ohio State University Medical Center. It is similar to the Ronald McDonald House. • We help with yard work as well as indoor cleaning • Where: located on King Ave • When: TBA • If interested, please contact SairaDaroga at daroga.1@osu.edu
Feeding the Hungry Meals on Wheels What: Volunteers will go around to less fortunate communities and drop off food to the senior citizens living there. It's a great way to see the neighborhoods around Columbus and help out those who are hungry.
