Our Aim • To provide a culturally appropriate service to effectively reduce gambling related harms in the Pacific community
A Name... • Mapu Maia – a Samoan saying. A call out from one to another to come in and take shelter, restore health, to rest awhile under the shade. • Naming process included consultation with Pacific community groups and leaders including the Matua Council of Waitemata DHB
Mapu Maia Logo • The green petals pointing upwards represents new growth, life and hope • The frangipani represents our Pacific motifs and heritage • The grey petals represents the shade and the coming under its coolness and safety • The Pacific patterns on the leaves represents the different Pacific island groups

Our Objectives... • To deliver effective public health programs • To ensure safe gambling environments • To influence positive and healthy gambling policies • To be leaders in robust community action • To develop a competent workforce • To work collaboratively with key stakeholders and community groups
Current updates... • Currently recruiting for Clinician 0.5 FTE • Planning under way for Gamblefree Day Pacific • 2 Pacific student placements start in June • Responded to proposed gambling legislation in Samoa through the Pacific media • Commenced public health contract with Tupu Services
