Current Status • Construct Building to house Generators • Constructed Gas Delivery line approximately 1000 feet • Installed 2 100kW generators • Installed Switchgear and wiring connections • Performed a Preliminary test with excellent results • Waiting for Blue Ridge Electric to install interconnection facilities

Opportunities for Duplication in other NC Counties • ASU Community Ties Program provided assistance to three other western NC counties to duplicate Watauga County model using ARRA Stimulus Funds from NC Energy Office • Counties Include: Caldwell Rutherford Wilkes • Funding in the range of $250k to $500k • Potential to Generate Electricity for local operations • Sell excess electricity to local utility • Obtain some RECs from NC Green Power or other utilities • Remove methane and obtain Carbon Credits for removing greenhouse gas • Pick the low hanging Green fruit

What is Sustainable Development? “Development which seek to produce sustained economic growth that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." Sustainable development implies economic growth together with the protection of environmental quality, each reinforcing the other.
