The ADA started giving the chance to people to do things in the United States even if they have a disability. Everyone gets treated the same.
Accommodations Not all people need the same accommodations
How it works at school? • Extended time on tests • Someone to read the test • Someone to take notes • Books on tape
Possible Work accommodations • A deaf applicant may need a sign language interpreter • Employees with Diabetes may need regular scheduled breaks to eat and monitor health • A ramp may be necessary for a person using a wheel chair
responsibility • A person with a disability must inform others of their needs. • A person with a disability is required to do the best job they can. • A person with a disability should never use their disability as an excuse
Penalties First time fines is $55,000.00 though the second time can be up to $110,000.00
