How Can Students Use Devices in My Class? Organization – calendar, notes, reminders, tasks • Access online textbooks (Pearson, Think Central, etc.) • Study Read books/Articles (Big Universe, AVL) Listen to online books Use tools – calculator, dictionary, timer, etc. Conduct research • Look up current events • Take assessments (SMART VE) Capture images – www.pics4learning.com • Record journal entries
How Can Students Use Devices in My Class? Record teacher/other students explaining a concept • Take AR tests • Search Destiny Create graphic organizers – www.bubbl.us Create timelines – www.timetoast.com Moodle – course management Edmodo – social networking • How about SMART Notebook and PowerPoint?
Tips for Students • Charge your device overnight – NO charging at school • Keep your own device – NO lending devices to friends • Keep devices powered off unless your teacher gives you permission to turn it on and use it • Get your parent’s permission before installing apps • Use for class related purposes only – NO social media • The bathroom and the gym are “Device Free” areas • Devices are not to be used at dismissal – keep them in your bookbag • Troubleshoot your own device • BYOD is a privilege that can be taken away at any time
SuggestedApps for Your Grade Level • Brainstorm ideas with your grade level • Complete and return the form with a PLCIA to Jessica or Dynette by Wednesday, March 20 • Suggestions will be posted on the Griggs website for parents and a flier will be sent home (possibly in report cards)
