BLOODPIT -THREE POINTS Bloodpit is a living proof for the saying “if it doesn't kill you, it only makes you stronger". One of the most internationally potential Finnish acts went through a rough period, but after unavoidable line-up changes Bloodpit is now more vital and capable than ever Having toured many times in Finland and Central Europe Bloodpit knows what it is all about. The foundation has been laid by strong street team activity in several countries. The band doesn’t come from out of nowhere Now, after several #1 hits in Finland and one major blow – which wasn’t fatal after all, Bloodpit has learned its trade and is ready to rock the world
THE STORY OF BLOODPIT The new Bloodpit EP “Recovered” introduces the brand new Bloodpit line-up, healed completely from its traumatic past – rising into one of the most internationally promising Finnish bands and inevitably breaking-up in the summer of 2007 due to the previous singer’s drastic habits. The story of Bloodpit goes back to the end of last millennium and to the time when John Lennon appeared in the guitarist Paavo Pekkonen’s dream telling him to form a band named Bloodpit. Paavo did what he was told and Bloodpit roamed through bandstands and venues, won band competitions, released self-financed EPs and grew itself a convincing army of fans until it signed a recording contract in 2004.
HISTORY 2005 The debut single Out To Find You hits the charts at #1 in Finland and at #61 in the European singles chart. The second single Platitude sells more in a week than its predecessor in a month. The debut album Mental Circus released by a small Finnish indie-company gets good reviews and debuts at #4 on the album chart. The album is released in 10 countries and Bloodpit tours in, amongst others, Italy and Russia, in addition to Finland. More than 70 concerts altogether and a lot of radio play.
HISTORY 2006 Suosikki, the biggest youth magazine in Finland, names the band the newcomers of the year. The song Out To Find You is chosen as the “freshest song” by YleX. The video to Platitude is awarded as the best music video of the year. The video is played on MTVNordic and IMF (USA) in addition to Finnish media. Street teams and fan groups pop up around the world. A showcase performance at Musexpo in Los Angeles leads to a licensing agreement with 456 Entertainment –company run by Carson Daly (that eventually goes bankrupt before the release of the album). EA Sports chooses the song Platitude to the soundtrack of the NHL 2007 video game.
HISTORY 2007 A deal with Sony BMG. The sophomore album Off The Hook gets rave reviews and Bloodpit plays a warm-up slot for Mötley Crüe in the Helsinki Hockey Arena. The band’s first big European tour is booked for the fall. But then, everything is gone in a blink of an eye. The band literally breaks up in front of a live audience at the Sunset Beach Party –festival. The relationship between the singer Matthau Mikojan and the rest of the band has come to a dead-end. More than 30 gigs are cancelled and the story of Bloodpit has seemingly come to an end.
HISTORY 2008 New songs that were created as therapy sound like Bloodpit and the band decides to continue under that name. Bloodpit is on a steady course towards recovery. For the band, Antti Ravín is the obvious choice to become the new lead figure. A new guitar player, Pietu, joins the group as well. A year after the break-up the band plays its first gigs in Riga, Latvia. The first new songs are released on the Recovered-EP. The new music video For You To Be Safe proves that the band is ready to continue the work that was cut short in the summer of 2007. Recovered debuts at #4 in Finnish Single Chart. The fans haven’t forgotten Bloodpit.

THE SECOND ALBUM OFF THE HOOK 2007 ”Bloodpit is in a class of its own. While most young bands grow bland over time, the foursome from Tampere turns inwards and releases an album that offers heavyness lighter than air… Off The Hook is hard-rock in its original sense – metallic, edgy and ruthless. The album sounds huge and aggressive. As any good rock album, Off The Hook ends with a symphony of distorted guitars.”- Soundi the most important monthly music magazine in Finland • Released in Finland on 18.4.2007 (Sony BMG) • #17 in Finnish album chart in its debut week • Sold 3800 copies in Finland (the first pressing is sold out) • - The band broke up before the international releases

Today Bloodpit sounds like it always should have: bigger, braver and more guitar-driven than ever. Recovered-Ep is the first time we hear the new singer Antti Ravín on an actual release. “A new beginning with the new line-up has given the whole band the kind of genuine enthusiasm we last experienced years ago”, the bass player and original member Aleksi Keränen sums up the current mood of the group.
