Carla Balch, MS Carla is President of NantCare and NantCRO, focused on bringing immunotherapy treatment and research (QUILT Trials) to community oncology, urology, academics and pediatric oncology centers. She holds a leadership position in the national Cancer MoonShot 2020 initiative. www.CancerMoonShot2020.org Prior to joining NantCare, she was CEO of Altos Solutions, the creator of the first web-based oncology technology company. OncoEMR was the first oncology EMR certified for Meaningful Use in the US. Altos Solutions made a very successful exit in May 2014 selling to Google Ventures backed Flatiron Health. Patient advocacy, technology development and research became a passion in 1999, when Carla joined West Clinic, Supportive Oncology Services and ACORN in Memphis, TN as part of internship for Masters in Clinical Psychology.

  5. Madelyn Trupkin Herzfeld Madelyn Trupkin Herzfeld was Founder, President, and General Manager of the Institute for Medical Education & Research, Inc. (IMER), where she led the development of accredited oncology continuing education/continuing medical education programs for nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals specializing in oncology for 12 years. IMER was sold in 2007 to United Biosource Corporation, which was acquired by Medco Health Solutions (2010) and later Express Scripts Corporation (2011). Ms. Herzfeld earned dual degrees in business (concentration: Health Care Public Policy and Management) and nursing from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and School of Nursing, respectively. She began her career at Bear, Stearns & Co. as a financial analyst in its investment banking healthcare services/pharmaceutical group and subsequently served as an associate for Pinnacle Partners, a boutique investment bank focused on middle-market healthcare service companies.

  6. Andrew Shorr Andrew Schorr of Seattle is a medical journalist who was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 1996. By participating in a clinical trial he has enjoyed a deep and lasting remission which has enabled him to be a pioneer in providing authoritative medical information online for other people facing serious illness. As a passionate patient-advocate, and with support from many of America's leading medical centers, Andrew has hosted and helped produce several thousand webcasts and videos for patients who have cancer or a wide range of chronic and acute medical concerns. In 2005, Andrew left HealthTalk he had started in 1992 to found Patient Power LLC, first as a weekly radio show for patients and soon thereafter as a growing website and producer of syndicated medical talk shows nationwide. Andrew hosts nearly every program. Many of the nation's leading medical centers have supported Patient Power either financially or by donating medical experts time for programs. Increasingly medical products companies, with no strings attached, have approached Andrew to support his efforts at patient empowerment. In 2009, Andrew joined with like-minded patient advocates to form the non-profit Patient Empowerment Network. Andrew is also the author of The Web-Savvy Patient: An Insider's Guide to Navigating the Internet When Facing Medical Crisis, published in the spring of 2011. Gloria’s made an international career applying the art and science of multi-variate utility analysis and design thinking to solve thorny multi-stakeholder problems. Losing her father too young to cancer, Gloria’s work to better cancer care and prevention isn’t just professional, it’s personal. Webster co-founded Silicon Valley-based PatientsWithPower, Inc. and is a Cancer Commons Research Partner to bring cancer patients the right information/data (truly personalized, free) at the right time (just-in-time or just-ahead of time for planning) in the right form (accurate, evidence-based, accessible, easy to understand, updatable).
